Treatment Your

Feet Need

A high activity level is essential for people of all ages to stay healthy. However, while sports and high-energy activities are beneficial, they can potentially pose problems for your feet.

Sports uniquely add pressure, stress, and an increased chance of rough physical contact to your feet, thus elevating the chance of injuries. How often do you listen to your feet when they tell you they hurt, though? How often do you ignore twinges of pain or continue walking on swollen feet with the hope that the pain will just go away? How often does it just go away?

At Parker Foot and Ankle, we strive to not only relieve foot pain, but prevent injuries from causing permanent foot problems as well. Come see for yourself how our passion for foot care can help you painlessly continue your passion for sports.

Active Relief for the Active Lifestyle Injury

On average, 11 million visits are made to doctors’ offices each year as a result of foot and ankle injuries, many of which result from sports-related accidents. If you’re an athlete, you know that even the smallest misstep or miscalculation in footing can not only cost you a goal, but also your stability.

If you’re lucky, you’ve not yet experienced the pain and injury that a fall can have. However, after caring for thousands of athletes’ feet over the past 40 years, Dr. Robert Parker knows firsthand the foot dangers of sports. Thankfully, over the past four decades, he’s also learned how to relieve, care for, and eliminate these dangers for his patients.

Isn’t it time that you learned as well? Come see how Parker Foot and Ankle can help you score pain relief for a variety of sports injuries, including:

  • Bunions, blisters and calluses. The harder you work your feet, the harder they have to work to prevent problems. As a result, the skin on your feet can harden and form calluses and bunions, or create blisters (fluid-filled pockets under the skin) in order to protect itself from friction and pressure related to running, jumping, and kicking.
  • Sprains and strains. Overextending the foot, twisting it, or falling on it are all excellent ways to sprain(Link) or strain the muscles that hold your foot together.
  • Hammertoes. When your toes are constantly jammed into shoes, used to kick objects, or repeatedly contracted, they can become permanently bent, requiring special treatment and even surgery to straighten out.
  • Broken bones and stress fractures. Too much stress or impact force on the bones can cause them to splinter, crack, or completely snap. These forces abound with most every sport; even jogging can cause you to fall and break a bone.
  • Sesamoiditis. Damage to your first metatarsal (the long bone located behind your big toe) caused by kicking, landing, or balancing on your toes can cause pain when jumping or pushing off to run.
  • Turf toe. Hyperextension of the joints between your foot’s metatarsals can cause pain and decreased range of motion in your foot, so that rocking your foot or changing direction can also be difficult.
  • Peroneal tendinitis. Overextension or rupture of the peroneal tendon—the stabilizing tendon on the outside of your ankle—can cause pinching pain, loss of stability, and swelling.
  • Lisfranc fracture. This involves damage to the mid-foot that dislocates one or more metatarsals, causing extreme pain and the inability to move or put pressure on your foot.
