Tingly Feet? Early Warning Signs For Neuropathy

Tingly Feet?

Early Warning

Signs For

Neuropathy

Your feet are amazing things. They take you where you want to go, allow you to walk and dance, and maybe even train for the upcoming Chevron Houston Marathon. Believe it or not, your feet are also the early detectors ofneuropathy. This condition can be caused by infection, repetitive injury or trauma, or diabetes.

If you suffer from diabetes, it can’t be overstated—you must pay special attention to your feet. Check your toes daily for cuts, blisters, sores, and other wounds that might not be healing properly. Watch for any other changes that might signal a problem that could lead to neuropathy. Regular appointments at our office will help you to maintain great foot health.

Call our office if you experience changes in your feet. Some of the symptoms to look for that may signify neuropathy include a tingly, almost “pins and needles” type feeling in your feet that worsens over time. The tingling may turn into a burning sensation or even a sharp pain. You may feel very sensitive to heat or touch, and you may find that your coordination skills are not what they used to be.  Other things to take note of are digestion issues, dizziness, and muscle weakness.

It is important to get medical attention as soon as possible, so if you show signs of any of these symptoms, please give Dr. Robert Parker a call at Parker Foot & Ankle in Houston today at (281) 497-2850. You can alsoset up an appointment online. At our practice, we understand the importance addressing neuropathy symptoms quickly. You’re not alone—let our expert staff help you start 2014 with healthy feet.
