Helping To Reach The Finish Line

Helping To

Reach The

Finish Line

Shin splints are an overuse injury often seen in runners logging a lot of miles. Such was the case for one of our patients, who came to us just 3 weeks before the Boston Marathon. He was struggling with shin splints after an intense amount of running caused the muscles along his shin bones to become aggravated, inflamed and sore. The pain from this condition was preventing him from putting in the final training miles he needed to prepare for race day. After all his time and dedication, he feared he would be unable to reach his goal of running the prestigious race. Frustrated and distraught, he turned to Dr. Robert Parker for help – an excellent choice! Not only did we relieve his discomfort, but we also helped him reach the finish line!

Known for his unique approach of combining various techniques for optimum results, Dr. Parker used a combination of Amniotic/chorionic allograft, electro-cell signaling, and ancient Chinese cupping to help the patient get marathon-ready fast.

The Amniotic/chorionic allograft process uses placental membranes placed into damaged tissues to help them heal more quickly. The electro-cell signaling part of the equation stimulates cells to send messages to the others, triggering change and repair. Cupping creates a mild suction which encourages blood vessels to expand, helping with inflammation. These three techniques combined with our MLS laser therapy which blocks pain and reduces swelling, allowed our patient to heal fast and get his training back on track, ultimately running — and finishing — the Boston Marathon pain-free in a time of 3:42!

Later he told us, “The shins did great with very little sensation during the marathon.” Successful treatment led to a successful race, and we couldn’t be happier that we were able to help!
