"Hi everyone. I’m Shawna, laser technician with Dr. Parker’s office. I’m here to talk about a few of the things that you’ll need to do at home during and after your laser treatment program. First of all, let me congratulate you on taking the first steps to eradicating that fungus.

The first part of the program that I’m going to talk about is the ShoeZap. This is an ultraviolet light used to sanitize the inside of your shoes by eliminating the fungus that can re-infect your nails. You’ll place the device in each of your shoes, the shoes into the ultraviolet bags, provided in the kit, and turn the device on. The cycle will last for 15 minutes and the device will shut itself off. You will use this on all of the shoes that you wear every day.

The next part of the program that I’m going to talk about is the Clarus solution. This is an anti-fungal solution that is oil-based. We use this to provide a barrier to protect your nails from being re-infected from any outside fungus. You will paint this solution on each of your nails every morning, allowing it to dry 30 seconds before you place your shoes and socks on. Again, you will use this every morning.

Next, you’ll use your Clarus cream. This is an anti-fungal cream used to treat fungal skin infections. Place a dime-sized amount of this cream into the palm of your hand and rub the cream around each toe, in between each toe, and on the bottom of each of your feet, being sure to wash, rinse and dry each of your feet thoroughly before applying the cream. For active skin infections we ask that you use this cream twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If you do not have an active skin infection, we ask that you apply this cream to both feet in the evening.

Last but not least is sanitizing your shower or bathtub. You can do that by using Lysol brand #3, or a 50/50 bleach and water solution that you mix and place into a spray bottle. You spray the entire bottom of the bathtub or shower after you shower and just allow it to dry - no need to wash or rinse the tub when finished. If you have any questions about the instructions that you were given today, feel free to contact me in the office at 281-497-2850."
